What is Meshtastic?
Burning Mesh is the decentralized, off-grid Meshtastic deployment at Burning Man, designed to keep camps, art cars, and adventurers connected across the playa – even with no cell service or WiFi. Whether you're tracking your friends, coordinating builds, or sending out a late-night bootycall message, we’ve got you covered with long-range LoRa mesh networking.
What We Do
Playa-Wide Communication – Send and receive text messages, GPS locations, and alerts across Black Rock City with Meshtastic devices.
Off-Grid Mesh Network – Built on solar-powered LoRa radios for reliable, low-power networking without infrastructure.
Community-Driven Tech – Built by Burners, for Burners — we support open-source firmware, hardware hacks, and radical collaboration.

Burning Mesh helps artists, theme camps, and individuals stay connected and organized—from coordinating large-scale builds to tracking art cars and keeping your crew in sync. It’s a lightweight, low-power way to support communication, safety, and spontaneous collaboration across the playa.

Send Messages to campmates/friends playa-wide using an intuitive texting-style interface.
DIY
DIY your own mesh devices for your specific use case - a stationary station, a portable device, or something to be installed on a bike/art car. An official Meshtastic Firmware has been released with burning man in mind.
